THREATENED

Received February 21, 8.23 a.m. LONDON, February 20. The engineers on the north-east coast have struck.

A complete stoppage of work is threatened. This would throw idle 83,000 persons. The Right Hon. D. Lloyd-George, president of the Board of Trade, has invited Sir Andrew Noble, chairman of Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth, and CornDany, Limited, to confer with him regarding the crisis.
