THE FALL OF PORT ARTHUR.
VERDICT OF THE COURT
MARTIAL,
Received February 21,9 .17 p.m
ST. PETERSBURG, February 21. The court-martial condemned Gen-
eral Stoessel to death, but without V loss of rights or honour, owing to the -' heroic defence madj by the Port Arthur garrison, and General Stoessel's persona] bravery. The Court will ask the Czar to commute the sentence of death to ten years' imprisonment in a fortress. The Court reprimanded General Fock, and acquitted Generals Reuss and Smirnoff. "The Times" says that the condemnation was deserved, as General Stoessel conspicuously failed in his duty, and lacked the requisite indomitable naval courage.
