Noble and Carter are not playing for New South Wales for business reasons. The visitors made a poor start, three wickets being down for 25. Hutchings and Hardstaff for the fourth wicket put on 80. Hutchings shaped brilliantly. He gave a chance at 45.
Young played his best innings of the tour, and gave no chances. Jones was missed no less than three times off Mennett. The lat.ter's seven wickets for 131 was a splendid performance for a colt. It was his first appearance in big cricket. Scores: ENGLAND.
