ALLEGED ASSAULT.

At the Magistrate's Court, Samuel Hill (alias Ryan) and Michael Regan (alias Hogan), both well-known to the police, were committed for trial on a charge of brutally asaulting a man named Frederick Fox, kicking him and causing him actual bodily harm. ~ Bail was fixed at £2OO each. DANNEVIRKE, February 14. Luther Martin Murray, at present under bonds aggregating £BOO, to appear at the Napier sittings of the Supreme Court on three charges of sheep and horse stealing, was arrested at Mangatera Hotel, at 3 o'clock, this morning, on a charge of assaulting a man named Thompson. It is alleged that Murray struck Thompson several times on the head with a stirrup iron.
Thompson is now in' the hospital, and it is uncertain what the ultimate effect of the injuries will be. Accused was remanded for eight days.
