STOCK MARKET.
Messrs Dalg'ety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We held our usual fortnightly sale at our Masterton yards(yesterday, when we had a yarding of 3,500 sheep of all classes. Very few cattle offering. There was a good attendance of the public, but bidding was very slack, the bulk of our catalogue having to be passed and dealt with privately. Prices were in sympathy with the dry weather, and consequently in buyers favour. We quote:—Aged broken mouth ewes 2s 6d to 3s (id, s.m. ewes 63 3d to 6s lOd, lambs, culls, ,4s Id t,o 5s 3d, 2-tootli ewes 13s 7d, i;ape lambs 8s to 8s 6d, 2£ to 3-year steers £4 l®s to £4 15s, cows 255. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—At Pahiatua, on Tuesday, we penned a fair number of sheep of all classes, and with low reserves we made a clearance. At Masterton, yesterday, we had a heavy yarding in sheep, and only those of vendors who were determined to sell changed hands. Many passed lots found purchasers afterwards at reduced figures. On the whole we have to report a dragging sale. Cattle met with a like reception, most lots going out unsold. Best ewes only reached lis, fair quality 6s to Bs, culls 3s, very good wethers 13s Gd, 2-tooth stores 9s 6d to 10s, best lambs 7s 3d, medium 4s to ss, culls 3s. No fats offered.
