EVENING CONFERENCE.
In the evening Crs W J. Welch, W. Harris, J. Miller, J. Morris, A. Murray, C. Kebbell and Messrs P. L. Hollitigs, V. 'Donald, W. H. Cruickshank, A. H. Wrightson attended, also Mr G. Laing-Meason. The proceedings were held in committee.
The chairman moved, after considerable discussion and after Mr Laihg-Meason had answered numerous inquiries, that the Council proceed to take a poll, as requested, so soon as the money was lodged to cover the expense of the same. Cr Kebbell seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. Mr Hollings intimated that the ■cheque would be lodged' immediately, ana ne heartily thanked the Council for its sympathetic treatment of the roquesc.
