WORK RESUMED. Received February 12, 12.50 a.m. SYDNEY, February 11. The Newcastle mines resumed working to-day.

STRIKE IN THE TIMBER TRADE.

Received February 12, 12.50 a.m SYDNEY, February 11.

A number of men employed at the Union Box Company and Austral Timber Company's works have ceased work in sympathy with a strike of casual hands.

The strike is expected to become general in the timber trade to-mor-row, when 1,600 permanent and casual hands will go out.
