The officers of the Masterton Mounted Rifles intend being present =at a farewell dinner to be given to Major Bolton at» Eketahuna this week.
• At the meeting of the Masterton Oddfellows Lodge, last evening, Bro. R. Krahageri presented Bro. J. Lyall with a handsome past officer's emblem, suitably framed, in recognition of the valuable services rendered by Bro. Lyall to his Lodge. ' Mr George Ward, of Masterton, will leave for Wellington on Thursday en route for Sydney, where he will take passage by one of the mail steamers for London. Mr Ward in--2 tends to spend an extended holiday in ?. England.
A weddine was celebrated at Knox Church, yesterday, the parties being Mr F. E. - e Sefton, of the locomotive department of the railways, and Miss Emily Burke, of Opaki. The bride was given away by Mr W. H. Herbert, and was attended by Miss Bain as bridesmaid. Mr S. D. Taylor was best man. The newly wedded couple left.by the afternoon train for Te Karaka, the home of the bridegroom's parents, to spend their honeymoon.
