SYDNEY, February 8

Three names have been recommended for the post of city electrical engineer, in the order named: — Mr Mackay, of the Great Western Railway, England. Mr Wyllie, of Auckland. Mr Roberts,-of Durban.

THE WRECK OF THE WINDSOR,

PERTH, February 8. The steamer Windsor, wrecked while voyaging from Fremantle to Hongkong, ran on to a reef west of Pelsart Island, in the Abrolhos Group, at 10 o'clock, on Sunday night. Her propelier evidently struck areef or her tail-shaft broke. A hole was pierced in the vessel under the engine-room, which was flooded. The crew were then assembled. The Chinese were much terrified.^ Owing to the list .of the shq; it was difficult to get a boar away. They were washed on a reef, where rescuers got them safe ashore. Captain Walters and Chief Officer Jones were drowned on Tuesday night alter the wreck. A boat containing two rescuers was blown out to sea whita putting off to the wreck, and has not yet been found. A steamer is searching for them. i

An apprentice states that they were four days on the wreck without water.
