WELLINGTON, February 6. The birth-rate for the dominion in 1907 was 27.31 per 1,000 of the mean .population, the death-rate 10.95,' as against 27.08 and 9 31, respectively, in, 1906- The deaths in 1907 (10,067) were greater than the number registered in 1906 (8,339) by 1,728, apd the rate per 1,000 rose from 9.31 to 10.95. The number of marriages (excluding those contracted between Maoris) solemnised in 1907 is estimated at 8,170, giving a rate of 8.8 9 per 1,000 of the mean population against 7,592, and 8.48 the actual number and rate in 1906.
