Municipal Deadlock.
DANNEVIRKE, February 5. As a result of the deadlock in the Borough Council maUers, which occurred some time ago, councillors obtained Mr Martin's opinion on the position. That opinion was read at a special meeting last night,/but did not help the position, as the Mayor contended that Mr Martin favoured his line of conduct on all point?. The deadlock continues; the council will not pass accounts. Mr Lindsay Buick has given notice to move in the Chamber of Commerce that the Government be asked to introduce legislation defining the power of mayors, with the view of preventing a recurrence of similar deadlocks in future.
