Received January 31, 9.49 p.m. PRETORIA, January 31. Mr Smuts has accepted the assurance of the leaders ot the that they will make voluntary registration effective. The sentences passed on all prisoners for non-regis-tration have been remitted. lhe finger-print system has been cispensed with as far as educated peisons or property owners and others who could be identified are concerned. Mr Smuts will allow all Indiar.s entitled to register an opportunity to register during the next thiee months. No information offending religious susceptibilities will be asked.
