CASTLEPOINT COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Castlepoint County Council was held on Saturday last in the County office. Tinui. There were present: —Councillors A. J. Speedy (chairman), Langdon, Bennett, Richardson, Ryder and Innes. Mr Bartholomew applied for metal to be put on the Tinui Valley road in the north riding. The Wellington and Wairarapa Charitable Aid Board wrote applying for a return of amount required for charitable aid for the year 1907-8, and also for the amount due. Councillor Bennett advised that hj« had arranged with Mr Cripps to cut bluegurr. poles for protective work in Mangapakeha. The Department of Agriculture .gave notice to cut noxious weeds on a leased section in Tinui. The Wellington Harbour Board gave notice of the election of a member of the Board on February 10th, and the appointment of a. delegate to vote. Mr Pickett wrote asking to kr.ow what the Council were prepared to give for metal being taken from the creek on his section. The Commissioner of Crown Lands furnished a schedule of over accrued thirds for expenditure amounting to £22 10s 3d. It was decided to erect protective works in the Tinui river where the road bed is being destroyed, and expend the grant of £135 on i.tw metal; that Mr Pickett be informed that the Council cannot see its way to remunerate him for gravel taken from the creek; that the necessary steps be taken to vest the Rewe Rewe road in the Crown, ar.d that a new channel be opemd for the water in Swamp creek. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £6BO bs' Id. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £457 10s.
