Major Wardill has received a cable from the Middlesex Club stating that a rule has been passed preventing a cricketer from playir/g'for'a colony or English county in the same year. "The feeling is strong on the subject," states the cable. "Please do not play Tarrant again for Victoria. We will compensate you if necessary." The Carlton v. W.F.C.A., which was to have been played on the Park Oval, yesterday afternoon, was won by the former by default. The Star team forfeited their match, yesterday, with Carterton.
