A Lost Dividend.
NOT RECOVERABLE AT LAW. PAIIIATUA, January 29. At a sitting of the court before Mr James, S.M., Herbert Vile sought to recover from James Donaldson the amount of the dividend paid by L'Or maria—less one pound returned —at the recent Ashhurst races, and which horso plaintiff instructed defendant to back. .Plaintiff <"as nonsuited, the Magistrate remarking that, notwithstanding that the totalisator was a legalised form of gambling, no money staked or lost could be recovered in a court of justice.
