PREFERENCE.
COMMENTS BY THE "SPECTATOR." Received January 29, 9.11 a.m. LONDON, January 27. The "Spectator" doubts the statement of Senator Best, Vice-President of the Commonwealth Executive Council, regarding the immense benefits conferred on British trade rjy the preference granted by Australia. "If," the "Spectator" writes, "the barrier .against British trade is too high to climb over, it is not comforting to reflect that others are still more hopelessly excluded by a higher barrier."
