AGITATION FOR REAL REFORMS. A GERMAN SUGGESTION. ■ LONDON, January 24. An influential meeting of Churchmen ,and Nonconformists, the Right Rev. Dr Ingram, Bishop of London, presiding, formed a joint Christian committee to agitate to secure real reforms in the Congo.

King Leopold's exorbitant demar.ds threatened to wreck it, but the situation was saved by France declining the Gorman overtures, in view of the Belgian right of pre-emption, and of her friendly relations with Belgium.
