WELLINGTON PONY AND GALLOWAY RACING CLUB.
The first meeting under the auspices of the above club, is to be held on their course at Mirarnar on Saturday, February 22nd, and from promises of support already secured, the success of the meeti.-.g is assured. The course at Mirarnar is six and ahalf furlongs long, and .is all dead flat. The total area -of the club's property is 35 acres, all of which has been under turf for two years. A grandstand, to seat 1,000 people, is in course of erection, and will be finished Sn time lor this meeting. The course iis fenced with'.the usual post and rails. Spacious dressing and bath rooms are provided for the jockeys. .'Mecbsic trams run right up to the course, whilst ferry steamers to Mirarnar wharf do the journey from Wellington in twenty minutes. It is proposedto hold these meetings at least once a month, and probably every fortnight. Mr Bigwood, who is the innugurator of the cluh, has had considerable experience iin running pony meetings, both in India :and South Africa, and he will be pleased to give any information as to stabling, etc., to be obtained hi the neighbourhood of the course. Entries close with Mr Bigwood at 9 pum. .on Wednesday, ' February sth, as per programme published in another 'column.
