TIMARU, January 17, A tailor was brought before the Magistrate's Court, to-day, on a charge. of professing to carrry on business under special appointment to the Governor without warrant, which, under the Act of last session, is now an offence. Defendant displayed a sign with the Royal Arms and words "Under special appointment to His Excellency the Governor." A conviction was recorded, and defendant discharged.
