RIO TINTO COPPER MINES.
A DANGEROUS SUBSIDENCE. THOUSAND MEN THROWN IDLE. Received January 17, 12.1 a.m. MADRID, January 16. A thousand men have been thrown idle at the Rio Tinto copper mines. The substitution of stone pillars as props caused cracks a yard wide. The subsidence led to the collapse of many -houses which were in the course of construction.
