CHARGE OF MURDER.
COMMITTAL OF SHERIDAN. BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION, WELLINGTON, January 15. James Malachy Sheridan 'was charged on remand at the Police Court, this morinng, before Mr W.,G. Riddell, S.M., with the murder of John Wm. McNally, at Wellington, on January 3rd. Mr Myers prosecuted on behalf of the police, and accused was.defended by Mr Gray. After evidence had been taken bearing out the circumstances telegraphed at the time of the occurrence, Mr Gray submitted that this was not a case for committal: There was no probability on the evidence of accused being convicted*by a jury of the offence with which he was charged, or any other offence. Mr Myers said the question the Court had to determine was whether a prima facie case had been made out. It might be that when the case came before a higher court the indictment .would be laid in a different form. Accused was committed for trial. Bail was allowed as formerly.
