The Manchester Guardian and other , Liberal organs hint at difficulties between Lord Tweedmouth (First Lord of the Admiralty) and Mr Haldane (Secretary of State for War), on the one hand, and Mr As.quith (Chancellor of the Exchequer) on the other,. -<L It is said that the two former are <*• unwilling to surrender funds for the V '-> ipuroose of providing old-age pensions. The Cabinet is stated to be uneasy .concerning the extent of the expenditure on naval and military requirements, and, is inclined to make retrenchments if the Liberal party is 'y prepared to accord them support in , ;the matter.
