MASTERTON RACECOURSE.
PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS
The Ground Committee of the Masterton Racing Club met on the Racecourse, at Opaki, on Saturday morning, there being presentsMessrs C. F. Vallance, A. W. Cave, J. Macara, A, J. Welch and W. Piatt. Apologies for absence were <'eceived from Messrs J. Cress and D. McLacblan. The meeting was held for the purpose of going into the question of rearranging the buildings on the course. It was resolved to increase the accommodation on the lawn by removing the present fence on the northern side of the lawn toN the northern end of the people's stand, thus bringing the latter into the grandstand enclosure. Part of the basement of the people's stand is to be used as a tea kiosk. The totalisator house is to be extended and four additional ticket windows are to be provided. A number of alterations are to be made in the secretary's office, which will provide more accommodation for the weighing-in and out of jockeys. The present Press room 1 will be added to the secretary's office, and the representatives of the Press will be accommodated in the present stewards' room, while the old tea kiosk will be converted into a stewards' room. It was resolved to procure a new and up-to-date judge's box, and to erect a platform with seating accommodation for the outside public near the running track.
