MINES EIGHT HOURS BILL.
OBJECTIONS BY MINING ASSOCIATION. Received January 10, 9 a.m. LONDON, January 9. An influential deputation, representing the Mining Association of Great Britain, urged various objections against the Mines Eight Hours Bill of the Government, especially declaring that its passage must reduce the oohl supply by 10 to 13 per cent., and also increase the prices. The Right Hon. Herbert Gladstone, Home Secretary, replied that Parliament desired a limitation of hours. He admitted that th« result would be to raise the prices, and promised to do his best to find a basis of agreement satisfactory to employer and employed.
