PERSONAL.
At Hastings, on Wednesday last, Mr H. E. Connop, of Woodville, was married to Miss Lily G. Wall, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Wall, of Hastings- ' ;f Major S. Bolton, 2nd Regiment Wairarapa M.R., has been transferrod to the active list (unattached) with his present rank. Messrs A. Johnston (Hukanui)., P. Thompson and T. Walsh (Eketahuna) are at present on a visit to the Auckland district. Mr Alexander Robertson, a wellknown resident of Wellington, died on Thursday, aged 74. He was born in Scotland, where he learnt his trade as a dyer, and subsequently filled responsible positions, but in 1861 he emigrated to Victoria, and two years later he joined in the gold rush to "The Dunstan," Otago. Afterwards he went to Nelson and there started a business as a dyer. In 1894 he began business in the same line at Wellington. In Nelson he took a prominent part in local politics and friendly society affairs.
