TRIBUTE TO A VICAR. HASTINGS, January 9. Rev. J. Hobbs, Anglican vicar of Hastings, who for some time has interested himself in the social welfare of youths connected with racing stables, has been given £3OO ny stewards and others interested in racing. The gift is to form the basis of a building fund for a club room for the youths of Hastings. The rector was told he was doing more than the Gaming Act to purify sport.
