The "Sportsman" expresses gratification at the generous and truly sporting recognition by the Australians of the splendid steady and nervy play of the winning batsmen. The "Daily Mail" phrases Humphries, Barnes and Fielder's magnificent display of nerve and pluck. The match was won by sheer dogged determination, and was the greatest victory achieved in test matches. The "Telegraph" says:—"lt was one of the most remarkable games in the whule series of international struggles. According to the Jaw uf averages Australia should win the rubber by the narrowest margin."
