Shearers' Dispute.
PALMERSTON N., January 8. Interviewed by a "Manawatu Times" reporter, a well-known shearer of 20 years' standing, declared that there was nothing in the shearers' demand that competent men wanted. There was no demand on the part of the men for preference to unionists, limitation of learner*, or the dagging clause. What the men did want was a fixed standard rate for shearers. They no more desired the other regulations than did the sheepowneirs.
