THE SHEARERS' DISPUTE.
DECISION OF PAHIATUA FARMERS. BY TELEGIUI'H —I'I.'ESS ASSOCIATION". PAHIATUA, January 7. A largely attended meeting of sheep-farmers was held here this aitfemoon, to consider the shearers' dispute. Mr Samuel Bolton presided. Mr J. C. Cooper was ttfe chief speaker, and detailed the demands of the Shearers' Union and the objec- 1 tions promulgated by the Farmers' Union to those demands. The following resolutions were unanimously passed:—"That this meeting agrees to support the pro- , Vgrairime of the Executive of the \ farmers' Union, and further agrees to appoint Mr J. C. Cooper as its representative before the Arbitration Court, and objects to appear before the Conciliation Board; that this meeting" agrees to pay five shillings per thousand sheep towards the ex- . penses of defending the farmers' case in the court. Papers were numerously signed agreeing to this course. " MEETING OF FARMERS' UNION AT HASTINGS. NAPIER, January 7. A meeting of the Hawke's Bay branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held at Hastings, this afternoun, to discuss the President's circular concerning the shearers' dispute. A committee was appointed to act as representatives of the Union ) bsfore tjie Arbitration Court, but it v was decided not to offer any evidence | before the Conciliation Board.
