Changes in the Land Department.

WELLINGTON, January 6. Mr J. Strauchon, Chief Surveyor and Commissioner of Crown Lands in the Wellington district, will be transferred, on April Ist, to take charge of the Auckland Land District. Bis position will be filled by Mr J. MacKenzie, now Commissioner of Crown Lands in Auckland. Those changes are heing made in consequence of the immense amount of development which will occur in the Auckland Land District in the near future. This will involve a large amount of survey work, a branch in which Mr Strauchon is a recognised expert.
