MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MEETING OF STEWARDS. A meeting of the stewards; of the Masterton Racing Club was held on Saturday afternoon last. Mr C. F.. Vallance -occupied the chair, and there were also present—Messrs D. Caselberg, J. Cress, W. Cooper, J.. lorns, W. lorns, D. McLachlan, W. Piatt, and C. H. Smith. Apologies, for absence were received from Messrs W. D. Watson and A. J. Welch. A letter was received from the secretary of the Racing Conference informing the club that the next meeting of delegates from racing clubs in the dominion would be held in Wellington on January 23rd. The secretary of the Wanganui Jockey Club wrote stating that a meeting of secretaries of racing clubs would be held at Wellington on January 24th, to discuss various matters in connection with racing. It was decided, on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr McLachlan, that the secretary (Mr A. Hathaway) should attend the meeting, and that he be instructed to make'a suggestion that some regulation should be made enforcing a jockey to return his colours to the owner. It was decided that the remaining debentures, amounting to £l5O, be paid off. Twu new members were elected. A programme committee, consisting of Messrs Vallance, Cress, Macara, and Pownall, was appointed to draw up the programme for the March meeting of the club. The secretary was instructed to call for applications for the position of starter to the club. It was resolved that a meeting of the ground committee of the club should be held at the racecourse on Saturday next, at 10 a.m.
