EAST COAST SPORTS.
(By Special Reporter.)
The sixteepth annual gathering 1 of the East Coast Sports Committee was .held at Homewood on Saturday last, in a paddock kindly granted for the occasion by the president, Mr J. JtJ. Tatham. The weather war? all that could be desired. This year\s gatheringl eclipsed its predecessors in every way. The attendance of local Bottlers and of the public generally was far in excess of any previous year, and those from other districts were also more numerous. Amongst thosa present were Messrs VV. C. Buchanan, Morrison (Blairlogie), Bunny (Ohiaruhe), Gawith (Masterton), and Perry (Masterton). The latter acted as judge in the horse events. A noticeable feature of the gathering was the keen competition in all the events, and the distinctly high standard of the competitors. No accident of any kind occurred during the day. The children had also their share in the clay's enjoyment, in games of all sorts, and judging by their happy faces, the onerous task of making them so happy was ably carried out by Mrs Tatham, of Homewood, and her assistants. The committee left no stone unturned to ensure a successful gathering, and they are to be congratulated on the result of their efforts. A special word of praise is due to Mr P. Prumond, Mr Kemp, Mr Harold Bennett (secretary), and Mr H. Thirtle (treasurer). The following are the results ef the various events:Maiden Race. 150yd?.--J. McCarthy 1, J. Mack 2.
