The Denniston Miners.
BANK-TO-BANK CLAUSE. WESTPORT, December 28. The management of the Westport Coal Company mention that it does not seem to be generally understood that the company had offered the Denniston miners, before the nase came to court, to give the bank-to-bank clause subject only to an arrangement of travelling time to and from the respective working places, which was absolutely necessary to ensure the regular working of the machinery. This offer the men refused, and the case went before the court, and judgment was given in favour of the company. Notwithstanding this, however, the company repeatedly offered to forego clause 16 of the award, to give the bank-to-bank clause on similar terms to those agreed on by the Granity miners, but the offer was refused by the men.
