AQUATIC CARNIVAL.

SYNOPSIS OF THE PROGRAMME,

The programme for the Aquatic Sports, to be held in the Park Lake on Anniversary Day comprises a very attractive list of events anl prizes. The Wairarapa Championship of 75yds for which the prizes and trophies are valued at £5 5s and £2 2s for first and second respectively, should attract the best swimming talent in the district. The open handicap of 100 yds has the substantial prizes of three guineas and one respectively, and the exhibition rescue race with a live model, two-guinea trophies. For the ladies' race trophies are offered, the first prize being valued at £2 2a and the second at £1 Is. Five events are set down for members of the Wairarapa Swimming Club only, the chief of which is a 66yds swim, for a guinea medal. There are five events for schoolboys, the chief of which is the 100 yds championship, for which a gold medal is to be awarded.

An exhibition game of polo should prove an attractive item, and the humourous events comprise a tubrace, greasy pole; obstacle race, tug of-war, egg and spoon race, cork race, and a tilting race. All competitors must belong to an affiliated club.
