There have been splendid rains, up to eight inches falling in the northern districts.
All the rivers are flooded, and railway traffic disorganised.
The floods have caused several wash-aways. Two trains with supplies for Cloncurry are stuck miles out of town.
Camel teams have been engaged to take on the goods.
PLAGUE OF GRASSHOPPERS. RAVAGING CROPS. SYDNEY, December 21. Grasshoppers have invaded the 1 Orange district in millions, and are ravaging crops. TEACHERS ON TOUR. BUSINESS AND PLEASURE. SYDNEY, December 21. Over twenty teachers are passengers by the Wimmera to attend a conference at Auckland. Afterwards they will play cricket, tennis and bowling matches. ARA WAT TA-INGEBORG COLLISION. . THE COURT'S FINDING. SYDNEY, December 21. In connection with the ArawattaIngeborg collision, the court found in favour of the Ingeborg, with costs against the Arawatta, and referred all questions in regard to damages to the Registrar. THE NORTERN TERRITORY. TO BE HANDED OVER TO COMMONWEALTH. ADELAIDE, December 21. Both Houses have passed the Bill providing for the handing of the Northern Territory over to the Commonwealth.
