CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting yesterday, there being present;— Messrs T. G. Mason (chairman), M. Caselberg, E. E. Chamberlain, B. J. Dolan, J. D. Cruickshank, E. H. Waddington, J. C. Ewington, D. Donald, G. C. Sumluerell. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £8 17s Bd. A letter was received from the Pongaroa Railway League, asking for suggestions with reference to the route for the proposed light line railway from Pongaroa. The Chamber passed a resolution favouring the route from Pongaroa to Waipukurau, and asking the Pongaroa League to' invite the cooperation of the settlers along the proposed route in keeping the matter before the Government. On the motion of Mr Waddingv ton, seconded by the chairman, it was resolved to make a further donation of £1 Is towards liquidating the debt of the Mount Ho'dsworth Track Committee. A litter was received from the Mastcton County Council stating that the matter of appointing a committee from that body to meet committees from the Chamber of Commerce and Borough Council, to discuss the improvements of the northern approach, had been held over un.til the next meeting of the Council.
