ALARMING REPORTS GROUNDLESS. Received December 20, 9.44 p.m. OTTAWA, December 20. Lord Strathcona, interviewed, said that nobody needing work should emigrate. Until the spring several Ontario factories have decreased their output, rendering idle a large number of hands. The class affected is chiefly those sent out by charitable institutions. Alarmists reports are groundless, though it is admitted that the conditions of labour and business are less brisk than in 190(3.
