RESCUE ALMOST HOPELESS,
Received December 20, 9.44 p.m NEW YOP.K, December 20.
An explosion and fire occurred at the Pittsburg Coal Company's mine at Jacobs' Creek. Two hundred and fifty Americans and Hungarians were entombed. S;no!-:e and fierce flames issuing from the mouth of the mine rendered the work of rescuing the entombed almost hopeless.
It is hoped that some of the unfortunate men are alive.
