LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.
OPENING UP OF CROWN LANDS
AUCKLAND, December 20
A large number of Crown land areas are being opened for selection in the Auckland district under the new Land Act. This applies to Huntiy, Rotorua, the King Country, and the whole of the district. Next month the Rewi Estate, of about 3,000 acres will be thrown open, and several others early in the New Year. About March theTautiri block, about fifteen miles from Te Awamutu, consisting of 22,000 acres, will be available. This block comprises some really fair land, suitable for dairying, cattle raising, and sheep farming. The lands, being prepared for selection are to be offered for cash, with right of purchase and under renewable leases.
