CHRISTMAS PREPARATIONS AT "THE ACADEMY."

Probably no other firm in the town ha 3 made more extensive preparations for this Christmas season than that of Messrs McLeod and Young, booksellers and stationers, Queen Street:. The shop with its lofty, well-lighted and spacious interior lends itself particularly to the display of bright and attractive goods, and the firm^have certainly used every effort to make this season a record one. The facilities made for coping with the pressure of business are very complete, and the proprietors and staff are busily engaged in keeping the numerous lines before the public. The window has been dressed in an attractive manner, and its gay appearance immediately arrest attention. The book department in replete with dainty classic editions, embracing complete seta by the best authors, which should all make suitable presents. The assortment of prayer and hymn books of all denomi lations include all the latest editions in great variety of style, while the range of Bibles extends in a hundred different styles from the pocketboo': edition to the largest family Bible. The stock of leather goods is exceptional, and while it is impossible to enumerate everything, such lines as ladies'purses, manicure sets, bigs, companions, writing cases, pockets books, silver-mounted br"sh sets, gentlemen's wallets and dressing cases should make ideal gifts. Prices for these lines range from one or two shillings up to nine or ten guineas. Every-day lines have been put aside to make room for the new assortment of fancy goods and toys. The department is overflowing with a profusion of dainty glassware, dolls, and toys of every description. For the convenience of patrons who prefer to do their shopping in the i-00l of the evening, the shop will bo open for business every evening except Thursday. The firm extend an invitation to the public to shop early .and so avoid the rush and inconvenience of doing business on Christmas Eve.
