At Knox Church, Masterton, yesterday, • Mi3s Maud Watson, only daughter of Mr Geo. Watson, of Homebush, was married to Mr T. V. Scott, fourth son of Mr T. H. Scott, of Havelock, Marlborough. The bride was given away by her father, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. T. Thompson. The bridesmaids were Misses Wilton (3), of Wellington-, and Miss Doris Remington, cousins of the bride. Mr B. McKee, of Wellington, was best man, and the groomsman was Mr H. Remington, cousin of the bride. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Foresters' Hall, at which there were a large number of guests present. Mr and Mrs Scott left by the afternoon train for Havelock, where I the honeymoon will be spent. ! Mr A. Hislop, running shed fore- j man, at Cross Creek, who has been ! promoted to the charge of the locomotive department at Wanganui, was, last week,' presented by the combined railway staffs at Cross Creek, Masterton and Woodville, with a handsome writing-desk, and also a tea-service for Mrs Hislop. Mr George Verry, an old resident of Konini, died at Waitotara, on Sunday last. The deceased, who was spending a holiday-at Waitotara, was 75 years of age, and leaves a widow and eleven children to mourn their loss. Mr W. C. Davis. Instructor of Agricultural Classes in State schools, visited Masterton yesterday and inspected the agricultural plot at the District High School. Mr John Cameron, the gentleman who is conducting a crusade against Chinese and other undesirables, will leave Wellington on Thursday morning for Palmerston North, and will return later via Masterton, Carterton and Featherston. At Dannevirke, on Tuesday last, Dr. Charles Scott, of Gisborne, was married to Mias Christina Fredsburg, of Dannevirke. Mr R. J. Young has resigned the position of superintendent of Knox Church Sunday School. He will be succeeded by Mr J. McGregor, senr., who will enter upon his duties at the commencement of the new year.
