MR KEIR HARDIE'S CRIME.
MIXING WITH THE COMMON
PEOPLE. A DINNER. Received December 17, 9.8 a.in. SYDNEY, December 17. A large gathering at the Trades Hali welcomed Mr Keir Hardie, British Labour M.P., who declared that it had been said that his want of tact and judgment in India had chilled an otherwise unanimous reception that ho would have received from the Australian people. If that were so, he was very thankful that his want of tact had produced such desirable results. He came to Australia to meet the leaders of the Labour movement. The crime he had committed in India was the same as he was committing in Australia —and it was a crime whereof be would probably die guilty. It would be that of mi::iri£ with the common peoDle. Labour numbers entertained Mr Hardie at ?. dinner at Parliament House.
