GALES IN ENGLISH CHANNEL.
THIRTY MINOR WRECKS,
FLOODS I* WESTERN COUNTIES,
Received December 16, 8.22 a.m. LONDON, Dacember 15. Heavy gales have been experienced in Great Britain. In the Chanel, according to a Lloyd's report, there have been thirty minor wrecks. Continued floods in the Western Counties and the Thames Valley have caused damage. A BOAT CAPSIZES. SIXTEEN PERSONS DROWNED. LONDON, December 15. The Thomas Lawson, a 500-ton petroleum boat, capsized while riding at anchor at Scilly Islands, Cornwall. Sixteen persons were drowned. Thrae were saved.
BLUEJACKETS DROWNED. A CUTTER SWAMPED. LONDON, December 15. A heavy sea swamped a steam cutter belonging to the torpedo gunboat Speedwell at Sheerness pier. Eight bluejackets who were startmg on Christmas leave, were drowned.
