WAIRARAPA ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.
The committee of the Wairarapa Athletic Association met on Saturday evening. There were present—Messrs J. B. McKenzie (chairman), A. Haughey, P. Haughey, H. J. O'Leary., J. H. Pauling, and A. Turner. Applications for dates for sports meetings were granted as follow: — Pahiatua Amusement Club, January 22nd; Makuri Sports and Picnic Club, January Ist; St Patrick's Day Sports Association, March 19th. The secretary was instructed to write to the New Zealand Athletic Union asking them to reconsider the disqualification of H. Wakelin.
The committee decided to recommend to the Union that the rules relating to registration of competitors should apply to handicap events only. As the proposed alterations to the rules and regulations had only recently been received, and the committee had no time to consider them, it was decided to recommend that they be in operative until after the conference of delegates from the various athletic centres to be held in New Plymouth in February next. It was resolved that the secretary be allowed to attend the various sporti meetings in the district, and receive sixpence for the registration of each competitor: or as an alternative, that the secretaries of the various sports clubs be given permission to retain sixpence for their clubs out of the registration fee of each competitor. •Mr J. 8., McKenzie was appointed delegate to the conference of Athletic Centres to be held at New Plymouth on February next. It was decided to hold another meeting early in January for the purpose of recommending alterations of rules and regulations to the con liisrence at New Plymouth.
