BOOTMAKERS' DISPUTE. ARBITRATION COURT AWARD. Received December 15, 5.30 p.m. SYDNEY, December 15. The Arbitration Court award in the bootmakers' dispute fixes the minimum wage of journeymen at 48s, the same as Victoria, and for niece work seven and a-half per cent, is added to the existing log rates. The award comes into operation on January Ist next. ATTEMPT TO DERAIL A TRAIN. Received December 16, 1.15 a.m. MELBOURNE, December 15. An attempt was made on Saturday , to derail the Adelaide express near Horsham. Five sleepers were .placed on the rails, but the engine, which was travelling at a high speed, cut through the obstruction without leaving the rails. * TELEGRAPHIC COMMUNICATION INTERRUPTED. Received December 16, 1.15 a.m. SYDNEY, December 15. Telegraphic communication with the south is interrupted, as the lines are blown down. ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT VOTE. MELBOURNE, December 14. , The House of Representatives voted £5,000 for Lieutenant Shackleton's Antarctic expedition. VALUABLE STONE, LARGE OUTCROP DISCOVERED. SYDNEY, December 14. A large outci*op"of stone has been discovered about forty miles southwest from Jervis Bay. Samples assayed yielded forty ounces of silver to the ton, 50 per cent of lead, 33 per cent, of zinc, and 17 per cent of copper.
