"BUY OR BE SMASHED." STEEL TRUST'S ULTIMATUM. Received December 9, 11.42 p.m. LONDON. December 9. The newspaper "Ironmonger" states that the United States Steel Tiust presented an ultimatum to the Welsh tin plate manufacturers that they must either buy monthly 3,000 American steel bars or be "smashed." The manufacturers have refused to comply with the demand. The Daily Chronicle says that if there is any reality in the threat the Government should take action.
