THE CRISIS IN ZULULAND.
AN ARRESTING PARTY,
TROOPS READY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. Received December 8, 8.37 a.m. DURBAN, December 8. A party of five, including Colonels Clarke and Shepstone, a doctor, and a magistrate, have started for Usutu to arrest Dinizulu. Colonel Sir Duncan Mackenzie remains at Mongoma, ready to move in the event of Dinizulu refusing to go quietly to Pietermaritzburg. PROMISE OF HELP. Received December 9, 4.9 a.m. DURBAN, December 8. Mr Louis Botha, Transvaal Premier, has promised to help Natal, in the event of serious trouble with the Zulus, with a stipulation that administration must be reformed in order to remove native dissatisfaction and unrest. The Cape has also promised to help. MAJORITY OF ZULUS PACIFIC. MURDERS AND OUTRAGES AGAINST LOYAL CHIEFS. Received December' 9, 11.22 p.m. DURBAN, Decembers The majority of the Zulus appear pacific, though some are assisting the rebels with money and mealies. The Government has published a list of the murders and outrages perpetrated against loyal native chiefs. The Government also announces that they are aware that other outrages are contemplated.
NATAL IMPIS. 10,000 MEN NEAR DINIZULU'S KRAAL. Received December 9, 11.25 p.m. DURBAN, December 9. The Courier states that it is reported that the Natal impis, numbering 10,000, are near Dinizulu's kraal. No news has been received of the officers who were sent *.o serve the warrant and arrest Dinizulu. Lord Selborne, speaking at Benoni, deprecated the censure passed upon the Natal Ministers who were, he said, no less humane than their Transvaal or Briti?h critics.
