MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MEETING OF STEWARDS. The stewards of the Master ton Racing Club met on Saturday afternoon. There were present--Messrs J. Macara (chairman), A. J. Welch, J. lorns, W. Ccoper, R. Buick, W. D. Watson, C. H. Smith, W. Piatt, J. Cress, A. G. Pilmer, D. McLachlan, W. lorns and A. Reside. An apology for absence was received from Mr C. F. Vallance. A letter was received from the secretary of the Wanganui Jockey Club, stating that the result of the enquiry into the ownership of the horse "The Stake" had proved that J. Coyle was the owner. An application was made by Mr A. 0. Levien for an increase in wages for attending to the gates at the recent meeting. No action as taken. The Wanganui Jockey Club wrote suggesting that a conference of secretaries of all racing' clubs in the dominion should take place in Wellington about the end of January to consider the rules and conditions of racing generally. The stewards considered the suggestion a good one, and left the matter in the hands of the secretary. The secretary of the Wellington Racing Club wrote asking for a list of members of the club, as it was intended to invite all the members of country racing clubs to the Wellington summer meeting. It was decided to furnish the list. The Wellington Racing Club forwarded a trainer's license for D. F. McKay, Six new members were elected.
