CARTERTON v. CARLTON,

The match between Carlton and Carterton was concluded on the Park Oval, on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the latter by 203 runs. With , no wickets down for 33, Welch and W. Gallon resumed batting for Carterton. At 52 Swan caught Gallon off Congdon. One run later Congdon clean bowled Welch. Hart and Smart then became associated, and bajiged the bowling about till 117 was reached, whan Smart was run out from a closer return by Congdon. Feast remained with Hart long enough to add one run to the total. Beechey joined Hart, and 159 was up before Barlow caught the former off Hoar. Elliott and Hart carried the score to 174, and then Barlow clean—howled Elliott. C. Gallon Hart added 48 to the score beiore'the former retired, bowled by Hoar. Eight runs later Kissell, who had joined Hart, retired, bowled by O'Leary. V. Fairbrother stayed long enough to see 235 hoisted. Hart was now neari ig his cantury, and was joined by H. Richards, for the last wicket. Hart very soon got his century, and the pair carried the score to 257 before Waters caught Hart behind the wickets off Allen. Hart made 108 by good cricket. He gave two chances during his innings. His off drives and leg strokes were very neat. Carlton required 286 to win but were all disposed of for 83.
