CARLTON v. W.F.C.A
The W.F.C.A. and Carlton teams commenced a' Henderson Cup match •on the Park Oval yesterday afternoon. Carlton went first to the wickets, and, batting with ten men, ■made 62. Munro played a good innings for IS, while F. Welch contributed 16 by neat cricket. Moss and Boyd also shaped well for their runs. The longest-partnerships were Boyd and Welch;, who added 16 runs to the score, Munro and Moss 12 runs, •and Munro and Lett 12 runs. Parsplendidly and came out -with the fine average of five for 18. W.F.C.A. failed to reach Carlton's 'total by 22 runs, the last wicket f falling at 40. Phillips was tbe only • double figure scorer, making 10 by play. Waters and Moas were ■ almost unplayable. • Waters bowled well, taking 6 wickets .for 12 run«. Moss sent down some beautiful balls, and took 4 wickets •for 17 runs. Caselberg and Phillips -endeavoured to stop the rot, and put •on 14 runs while together. Carlton commenced their second innings at 5.30 o'clock, and at the had lost 4 wickets for ,83. Madsen bowled splendidly, coming out with the fine average of 5 for 19. Hatch made a capital catch when he caught F. Fairbrother. In their first innings Star made 78.
